The Thumbutton does a simular job as the Cannon but fits on top of the rod and is held down as you would a multiplier reel. As the Cannon it should be fitted above and slightly behind the spool rim.

I bought 2 of these to go with my new rods – I am a beginner and been a dozen or so times. I have to say I am genuinely impressed by the performance of these little gadgets! I found that not having to worry about my finger as I cast meant that I could actually give the lead some welly, it also improved my accuracy because I quickly found a movement that I can repeat indefinitely and without any discomfort! If you do money/usefulness these are probably the best thing I bought, an item that affects my whole casting experience.
